Settling in
Register with a local GP as soon as you have an address (see our healthcare guide), and give yourself time — London can feel overwhelming at first, even for confident movers. Most newcomers find their footing within the first three to six months.
Meeting people
Meetup groups, sports clubs, and workplace social events are the most common ways expats build a social circle in London. Many areas also have active local Facebook and WhatsApp community groups worth joining early.
Everyday life
Supermarkets, pharmacies and most services are widely available across the city, with many open late or on Sundays (with reduced hours for larger stores). Weekend markets are also a great way to explore different neighbourhoods.
